E Block encompasses approximately the western half of Tokyo, consisting of cities such as Musashino, Mitaka, Fuchu, Tachikawa, Hachioji, Higashimurayama, Kodaira, Kokubunji, Nishi-Tama area (Akiruno, Okutama-machi, Hinohara-mura, Ome, etc.). The region includes urban areas as well as nature-rich landscapes like Mount Takao, Mount Mitake, and Okutama Lake.
Musashino City, just a 20-minute train ride from Shinjuku, is known for tourist spots such as Inokashira Park and the Kichijoji area. Inokashira Park features a zoo and ponds, offering beautiful scenery throughout the seasons. The Ghibli Museum is also in this area.
Fuchu City hosts various artistic performances, including music and stage productions, at the Fuchu no Mori Art Theater. The Okunitama Shrine within the city is a representative shrine in the area, drawing faith and reverence.
Tachikawa City boasts the National Showa Memorial Park, a vast area with various gardens, ponds, and spacious lawns known for blooming flowers throughout the seasons. The area around JR Tachikawa Station is a commercial hub in western Tokyo, with shopping malls and dining establishments.
Hachioji City offers hiking spots like Mount Takao and Mount Jinba. With its proximity to the city center, it provides an easily accessible area for casual hiking. The Tama Zoological Park, the largest in Tokyo, attracts many visitors on weekends. The famous ginkgo trees lined along the Koshu Kaido Road is particularly stunning in autumn.
Higashimurayama City, situated on the Musashino Plateau, provides convenient access to Tama Lake, a water source for Tokyo residents. Moreover, Tamagawajosui River, which was excavated during the Edo period, flows for over 10 kilometers, serving as a popular walking course for locals. Parks such as Koganei Park and Nogawa River Park are ideal places for strolling and picnicking.
The Nishi-Tama area (including Akiruno City, Okutama-machi, Hinohara-mura, Ome City, etc.) is characterized by rich natural landscapes, including mountains and forests. It is a treasure trove for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and other water sports like kayaking. Hot springs are also available to relax and unwind in this natural haven amidst the bustling Tokyo tourism scene.”
